Q2 2026 brought four VelvetPath releases focused on three things: more consistent evidence handling, efficient unit evaluation, and clearer oversight of every application. Here’s everything that shipped.
Everything shipped this quarter, at a glance
| Feature | What it does | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Evidence Classification | Intelligently classifies uploads into direct, indirect or supplementary evidence | Assessors focus on the evidence that carries the most weight |
| Evidence Ranking | Ranks evidence against the four rules of evidence (AI score 1–10) | The strongest, most relevant evidence surfaces first |
| Evidence Tagging | Manually tag evidence without running mapping | Flexibility where AI mapping isn’t needed |
| Performance Evidence | Pulls assessment criteria from TGA; “Run Analysis” generates a summary and justification | Faster, more consistent unit evaluation |
| Assessor-Guided Workflow | Steps assessors through the evaluation | Transparency and visibility on every application |
| Interview Questions Improvements | Generate across multiple units in one dialogue; regenerate per unit | More relevant questions |
| Credit Transfer Workflow | Streamlined credit transfer handling | Cleaner path for already-recognised units |
| Edit Units | Add or remove units after an application has started | Fix application errors or add better-fit units mid-assessment |
| Unit-Based Document Generator | Generate Third-Party Letter templates by unit; save as an org default | Consistent, reusable third-party documentation |
| Internal RPL | Flag an application as internal so no student emails are sent | Run internal assessments without student-facing comms |
| Application Timeline | Full history of each application via the 3-dot menu | A clear audit trail on every application |
| Management Reports | Time-period reporting and role-based dashboards | The right view for admins and assessors |
| Auditor Role | Read-only access, assignable to specific applications | Clean, scoped oversight for auditors |
1. Evidence handling that reflects the rules of evidence
The biggest theme this quarter: making evidence handling rigorous and consistent, so assessors spend their time on the evidence that actually matters.
Evidence Classification. On upload, the platform automatically categorises each file as direct, indirect or supplementary evidence. Because not all evidence carries the same weight, the system prioritises mapping direct and indirect evidence to units — and assessors can still trigger AI mapping for any specific document when they need to after their initial review.

Evidence Ranking. Each piece of evidence is ranked against the four rules of evidence, with an AI score from 1–10. The system then prioritises the top-ranked evidence so assessors review the strongest material first.
- Validity — demonstrates the skill or knowledge
- Sufficiency — enough depth to decide
- Authenticity — clearly the candidate’s own work
- Currency — recent enough to count
The system prioritises the top 5 evidence links by ranking — and you can always attach additional evidence if you need more mapping.

Evidence Tagging. You can now manually tag evidence without running the mapping process — useful when you want to flag evidence without triggering AI mapping.

2. Faster, more consistent unit evaluation
Performance Evidence. VelvetPath now retrieves assessment criteria directly from TGA. When an assessor evaluates a unit, a single Run Analysis click generates a summary and justification — cutting manual effort while keeping the reasoning visible. It also identifies gaps and suggests types of evidence that should be submitted.

Assessor-Guided Workflow. A guided flow walks assessors through the evaluation step by step, improving transparency and visibility on every RPL application.
Interview Questions. You can now generate interview questions across multiple units in one dialogue, and regenerate questions for each individual unit.

3. More control over each application
Edit Units. Assessors can add or remove units after an application has commenced. Adding a unit triggers the mapping pipeline to align existing evidence; removing a unit deletes its associated mapping. This makes it easy to correct initial application errors or swap in more suitable units identified during evaluation.

Credit Transfer Workflow. A streamlined workflow for handling credit transfer.

Unit-Based Document Generator. Generate Third-Party Letter templates by unit, and save them as an organisational default for reuse.

Internal RPL. When creating an application, select Internal RPL so no emails are sent to the student.

4. Reporting, roles and a clear audit trail
Management Reports. Reporting by specific time period is now available, with dashboards customised by role — admins see high-level statistics, while assessors see their assigned units and pending applications.

Application Timeline. Every application now has a full history. Open it via the application’s 3 dots > Timeline for a complete record of events.
Auditor Role. A new Auditor role provides read-only access and can be assigned to specific applications. Invite and assign it via Management > Users > Invite User.
What’s next
We’re not slowing down. On the roadmap:
- Higher-quality mapping — we’re continuing to improve the accuracy and reliability of evidence-to-unit mapping.
- In-platform messaging — a new interface that lets assessors and students communicate directly within VelvetPath.
We are also working on other new projects with some innovative partners! Look forward to sharing more about our progress in the next quarter!
